Big Idea
A fable is a short story, often with talking animals, that develops a lesson.
Read: The Wren and the Reed
A wren laughed at a reed for bending in the wind. "Stand straight like my branch!" she chirped. The reed bowed again. A storm came. The stiff branch cracked, but the reed bent low and rose when the wind stopped. The wren rested among the reeds. "Bending is not always giving up," she said.
