Scene 1 – Jacob Leaves Home

Narrator: Esau was angry because Jacob had taken his blessing. Rebekah sent Jacob away to stay with her brother Laban.

Rebekah: Jacob, go to Labans house and stay safe.

Jacob: I will go, Mother.

Esau: I am very angry with Jacob.

Narrator: Jacob began his long journey.

Scene 2 – Jacobs Dream

(Jacob lies down with a stone as a pillow.)

Narrator: One night Jacob slept and had a wonderful dream.

Jacob: What is that?

Angel: A ladder reaches from earth to heaven.

Narrator: Angels were going up and down the ladder.

God: Jacob, I am with you. I will bless you and your descendants.

Jacob: God is truly in this place!

Scene 3 – Bethel

Narrator: When Jacob woke up, he remembered Gods promise.

Jacob: This place is Gods house.

Jacob: I will call it Bethel.

God: I will watch over you wherever you go.

Narrator: Jacob lived with Laban for many years.

Laban: You have worked hard.

Jacob: God has blessed me.

Narrator: Jacob married Leah and Rachel and became very wealthy.

Scene 5 – Returning Home

Narrator: Jacob decided to return home and meet Esau again.

Jacob: I will send gifts to my brother.

Esau: I wonder if Jacob has changed.

Jacob: I hope he will forgive me.

Scene 6 – Wrestling with the Angel

Narrator: One night Jacob wrestled with an angel.

Angel: Let me go.

Jacob: Not until you bless me.

Angel: You have struggled and trusted God.

Narrator: The angel touched Jacobs hip.

Jacob: I have seen God face to face.

Jacob: I will call this place Peniel.
