Promise of the Holy Spirit
Jesus spoke to His disciples after the Last Supper, preparing them for what would happen next. He warned that they would all abandon Him, even though Peter insisted he would never deny Jesus.
Jesus told them not to be afraid or troubled. He said that even though He would return to the Father, He would send the Holy Spirit to be with them as a helper, guide, and comforter.
He promised them peace, not like the world gives, but a deep peace that would strengthen them in difficult times. He also told them that He would prepare a place for them in His Father’s house.
After these words, Jesus and His disciples sang a hymn together before leaving.
