The Betrayal and the Last Supper
On the night of the Passover meal, Jesus gathered with His disciples in an upper room prepared by a friend in Jerusalem. He knew that His time was near, yet He loved His disciples deeply, including Judas who would betray Him.
Before the meal, Jesus humbled Himself and washed the disciples’ feet, showing them that true greatness comes through serving others. He taught them to love one another as He had loved them.
During the meal, Jesus announced that one of them would betray Him. The disciples were shocked and questioned who it could be. Jesus then spoke privately to Judas, who left the room in the darkness.
Jesus then shared bread and wine with His disciples, explaining that the bread represented His body and the wine represented His blood, given for the forgiveness of many. This became the foundation of a new covenant between God and His people.
