The Life-Giving Water
Jesus was resting beside a well near Sychar in Samaria on a hot day. While His disciples were away, a Samaritan woman came to draw water. Jesus surprised her by asking for a drink because Jews and Samaritans usually avoided each other.
Jesus told her that if she knew who He was, she would ask Him for living water. The woman was confused because Jesus had no bucket to draw water from the well.
Jesus explained that ordinary water satisfies thirst only for a short time, but the living water He gives satisfies the deepest needs of the heart and leads to eternal life.
As they talked, Jesus revealed details about her life that no stranger could know. The woman realized that Jesus was the promised Messiah sent by God to save the world.
