The Sermon on the Mount
When some religious leaders rejected Jesus, He taught His followers outdoors where large crowds could gather. Jesus explained that God cares more about what is in a persons heart than about outward rules and traditions.
He taught that people should love others, even those who are unkind to them. God shows kindness to everyone by sending sunshine and rain on all people.
Jesus also explained that God's standards go deeper than actions alone. For example, anger and hatred are serious because God sees what is in the heart. He taught that true happiness comes from kindness, patience, humility, and living God's way.
