The Man Who Refused to Forgive
Jesus told a story about a king who discovered that one of his servants owed him an enormous amount of money. The debt was so large that the servant could never repay it.
The servant begged for mercy. The king felt compassion and completely canceled the debt.
Later, that same servant found another servant who owed him only a small amount of money. Instead of showing mercy, he demanded payment and had the man thrown into prison.
When the king heard what happened, he became angry. He reminded the servant that he had received great mercy but refused to show mercy to others. Jesus taught that God's people should forgive others just as God forgives them.
