How Satan Tried to Tempt Jesus
After His baptism, Jesus spent many days in the wilderness praying and fasting. He became very hungry because He had not eaten during that time. Seeing His weakness, Satan came to tempt Him.
First, Satan told Jesus to turn stones into bread. Jesus replied that people need more than food; they need God's word. Then Satan showed Jesus the kingdoms of the world and offered them to Him if He would worship him. Jesus refused and said that only God deserves worship.
Finally, Satan took Jesus to the highest point of the Temple and challenged Him to jump down, claiming that God would protect Him. Jesus answered that it is wrong to test God.
Because Jesus remained obedient and trusted God's will, Satan could not persuade Him to sin. Satan left, and God sent angels to care for and strengthen Jesus.
