The Immaculate Conception

The Immaculate Conception

Mary was related to Elizabeth and lived in Nazareth. She was engaged to Joseph, a carpenter and descendant of King David. One day, a bright light appeared in her room, and an angel named Gabriel told her that God had chosen her to give birth to the long-awaited king, a descendant of David.

Mary asked how this could happen since she was unmarried. Gabriel explained that the Holy Spirit would come upon her, and her child would be God's own. He also told her that Elizabeth would have a baby in three months. Though Mary could not fully understand, she accepted God's plan. She went to visit Elizabeth, who already knew of the miraculous events, and both rejoiced. Mary then praised God with a song of thanksgiving.
