The Blinded Syrian Soldiers

The Blinded Syrian Soldiers

The king of Syria repeatedly planned attacks against Israel, but every time his plans failed. God revealed the enemys movements to the prophet Elisha, who warned the king of Israel. The Syrian king became convinced that a spy was leaking information, but one of his officers explained that Elisha knew the plans through God's help.

One morning, Elishas servant went outside and saw the city surrounded by Syrian horses and soldiers. Terrified, he rushed to tell Elisha. Instead of panicking, Elisha prayed that God would protect them. As the Syrian army approached, Elisha prayed that God would strike them with blindness, and God answered his prayer.

Elisha then approached the confused soldiers and told them they were in the wrong place. He led them all the way to Samaria, the capital of Israel. Once they arrived safely inside the city, Elisha prayed again and God restored their sight.

When the king of Israel asked if the enemy soldiers should be killed, Elisha instructed him to show mercy. A great feast was prepared for them, and afterward they were allowed to return home. Following this act of kindness, the Syrians stopped raiding Israel.
