How Moses Led His People Across the Red Sea
After the Passover, Pharaoh finally allowed the Israelites to leave Egypt. Moses, Aaron, and the people quickly departed, beginning their journey toward freedom. However, Pharaoh soon regretted his decision and decided to pursue them with his army.
Pharaoh gathered hundreds of soldiers, horses, and chariots and chased after the Israelites. When the Israelites reached the Red Sea, they became frightened because the sea was in front of them and Pharaohs army was approaching from behind.
God told Moses to lift his staff and stretch it out over the water. As Moses obeyed, God performed a miracle. The Red Sea divided, forming walls of water on both sides, while a dry path appeared through the middle of the sea.
The Israelites walked safely across the dry ground. The Egyptian soldiers followed them into the sea. After all the Israelites had crossed, the waters returned to their place. The sea closed over Pharaohs army, and the soldiers were drowned. The Israelites praised God for rescuing them from their enemies.
