Noah's Sons and Grandchildren
After the flood, Noah and his sons—Shem, Ham, and Japheth—started a new life on the earth. They worked as farmers and planted vineyards. Over time, they had many children and grandchildren, and their families grew into large groups of people.
Ham acted disrespectfully toward his father Noah, while Shem and Japheth treated him with honor. Because of Hams behavior, Noah pronounced a curse on Hams son Canaan. Shem and Japheth received blessings because they showed respect.
The descendants of Noah's sons spread throughout the known world. Japheth became the ancestor of many Indo-European peoples. Shems family line settled in Asia and preserved the godly line. Hams descendants spread into Africa.
One of Shems descendants was Terah. Terah had three sons named Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Haran became the father of Lot, Milcah, and Iscah. Nahor married Milcah, while Abram married Sarai. Later, Terah traveled with Abram, Sarai, and Lot toward Canaan but settled in Haran instead.
