The Coming of the Holy Spirit
After Jesus ascended into heaven, His disciples gathered in Jerusalem to pray and wait for the promised Holy Spirit.
On the day of Pentecost, a sudden sound like a rushing wind filled the house where they were meeting. Flames like tongues of fire appeared and rested on each of them.
They were filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in different languages. A large crowd gathered in amazement.
Peter stood up and explained that Jesus had been raised from the dead and had poured out the Holy Spirit. He called the people to repent and be baptized, and many believed that day.
The early believers continued to pray together, share what they had, and live in unity as God performed many miracles among them.
