The Burial of Jesus
After Jesus died on the cross, Joseph of Arimathea courageously asked Pilate for permission to bury His body. Joseph, along with Nicodemus, carefully wrapped Jesus body in linen cloths and prepared Him for burial.
They placed Jesus in a new tomb cut into rock and rolled a large stone across the entrance. Several women watched and remembered where Jesus was buried.
After the Sabbath, Mary Magdalene and other women returned to the tomb with spices. To their surprise, the stone had been moved. Peter and John ran to investigate and found the tomb empty, with the burial cloths neatly lying inside.
John began to understand that Jesus had risen from the dead, just as He had promised.
