God Calls Moses
While caring for his flock near Mount Sinai, Moses noticed an amazing sight. A bush was burning with fire, yet it was not being destroyed by the flames. As Moses approached, God called to him from the burning bush and told him to remove his sandals because he was standing on holy ground.
God identified Himself as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Moses was afraid and covered his face because he did not dare look at God. God explained that He had seen the suffering of the Israelites in Egypt and had heard their cries for help.
God chose Moses to go to Pharaoh and lead the Israelites out of slavery. Moses felt unqualified and worried that people would not believe him. He also said that he had difficulty speaking. God reassured Moses and told him to take his brother Aaron with him. God promised to help them know what to say and do.
