How Lot Was Rescued
Abraham and Lot eventually separated because the land could not provide enough food and space for all their animals. Abraham remained in one area while Lot settled near the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah.
One day, Abraham and Sarah were visited by three special visitors. The leader promised that Sarah would have a son despite her old age. Abraham later realized that the visitor was God. God revealed that Sodom and Gomorrah would be destroyed because of their great wickedness. Abraham pleaded with God to spare Lot and his family.
God sent two angels to Lot. Lot welcomed them into his home and prepared a meal for them. The angels warned Lot that the cities would soon be destroyed and told him to leave immediately with his family.
At dawn, the angels led Lot, his wife, and his two daughters out of the city. They instructed them not to look back. As fire and burning sulfur fell upon Sodom and Gomorrah, Lot and his daughters escaped toward Zoar. However, Lots wife looked back at the destruction and was instantly turned into a pillar of salt.
