The Chosen One - Abraham, and Test of Faith
God called Abram to leave his homeland and travel to the land of Canaan. Abram obeyed and took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, their servants, animals, and possessions with him. God promised that Abram would become the father of a great nation. Later, God changed Abrams name to Abraham, meaning "father of many nations," and Sarais name to Sarah.
Many years later, Abraham and Sarah were blessed with a son named Isaac. Isaac was the child God had promised to them. One day, God decided to test Abraham's faith and obedience. God instructed Abraham to offer Isaac as a sacrifice on Mount Moriah.
Abraham trusted God and obeyed. He traveled to Mount Moriah with Isaac. Isaac carried the wood for the sacrifice, while Abraham carried the fire and a knife. When they reached the mountain, Abraham built an altar, arranged the wood, and prepared to offer Isaac.
Just as Abraham was about to sacrifice his son, God stopped him. God saw that Abraham truly trusted Him and blessed him. Nearby, Abraham noticed a ram caught in a bush by its horns. He offered the ram instead of Isaac as a sacrifice to God.
