The Tower of Babel
After the flood, God commanded Noah and his sons to have children, fill the earth, and spread across the world. As time passed, the number of people grew, and everyone spoke the same language. Among Hams descendants was Nimrod, a powerful man who rebelled against God and wanted to rule over others.
Nimrod persuaded the people to follow him and believe that they could make themselves great. Instead of obeying God's command to spread out, the people gathered together and began building a huge tower that they hoped would reach the sky. Their hearts became proud and disobedient.
God saw their arrogance and wickedness. He knew that if they continued working together in rebellion, they would become even more sinful. So God confused their language, causing them to speak in different tongues. Because they could no longer understand one another, the people scattered across the earth, and the tower was left unfinished. This place became known as Babel because the people’s speech sounded confused.
