God's Promise to Noah - The Rainbow
After the flood ended and the earth became dry again, Noah and his family left the ark. To thank God for His protection, Noah offered burnt offerings to the Lord. God was pleased with Noah's worship and blessed him and his family.
God told Noah that the animals, birds, and fish would fear humans. He provided green plants as food and also allowed people to eat animals, but He commanded them not to eat blood. God also warned that human life was precious because people were created in His image, and He forbade the shedding of innocent blood.
Then God made a wonderful promise to Noah. He promised that He would never again destroy all life on earth with a flood. As a sign of this everlasting covenant, God placed a beautiful rainbow in the sky. Whenever people saw the rainbow, they could remember God's promise and His faithfulness.
