Fluffy Sheep Audience

Fluffy Sheep Audience

A child learns to overcome the fear of public speaking by imagining the audience as fluffy sheep.

Age 6-9

The First Speech

Mia stood on the stage with her hands trembling. The bright lights made her feel small, and the crowd looked endless. She wished she could disappear behind the microphone. Her teacher smiled kindly, reminding her of the deep breath trick they practiced. Mia closed her eyes and took a long, brave breath.

Imagining the Sheep

Then she remembered her funny idea: imagine the audience as fluffy sheep! One by one, all the serious faces in her mind turned into puffy, woolly sheep blinking at her. Some chewed imaginary grass, others wiggled their ears. The thought made her giggle a little. The fear in her chest began to shrink like a melting ice cube.

Finding Her Voice

Mia began to speak. Her voice shook at first, but the sheep seemed to listen kindly. Each sentence she said made her feel braver. She even added a funny line that made the 'sheep' in her imagination laugh! She could almost hear their baa-ing cheers echoing softly in her heart.

The Applause

When she finished, the audience burst into applause. It wasn’t a herd of sheep clapping, but real people smiling proudly at her. Mia felt her heart jump with joy. She had done it—she had spoken clearly and confidently! Her teacher gave her a thumbs-up, and her friends hugged her after the show.

A Lesson Remembered

From that day on, Mia always remembered her sheep trick. Whenever fear tried to visit, she turned it into something soft and funny. Whether reading aloud in class or telling stories at home, she spoke with a new sparkle in her voice. Fear might still knock on her door, but courage always answered first.
