Morning at Maple School

Tom sat at his desk, the morning light streaming through the window. He heard the teacher say that a big surprise was waiting for everyone. He wondered if it was another game or a story about a lost kitten. Tom felt a tiny flutter of excitement bubbling inside his tummy. He was curious about what the new year would bring.

The Moving Announcement

At lunch, Mr. Lee announced that the school would prepare to open a brand new building. The kids clapped and sighed, some relieved, others nervous. Tom’s mother whispered that they might move to a different town soon. His ears pricked up, and his mind filled with images of new roads and new houses. He thought, "Will I still have the same friends?"

Packing Up

That evening, Tom helped pack his favorite toys into a cardboard box. He measured each toy, placing the smallest ones in the corner. His brother counted stickers left on the back of a book. Their laughter echoed through the hallway. The box seemed to grow heavier with each item, but Tom felt a strange sense of pride.

The First Day at the New School

Finally, the day came. Tom stepped onto the green lawn of his new school. He saw unfamiliar faces, and the principal welcomed each student with a warm smile. He followed the class into their new classrooms, each door marked with bright colors. Though he felt a pang of homesickness, he tried to remember the words of his mother: "Change brings new possibilities."

A New Friend

During recess, a boy named Li approached Tom and offered his lunchbox. Tom accepted gratefully. They talked about soccer, dinosaurs and favorite cartoons. Their friendship blossomed quickly, making Tom feel less alone. He realized that friendships could grow anywhere.

Settling In

As weeks passed, Tom found his rhythm at the new school. He started enjoying math and drawing, and he looked forward to meeting Li every day. He no longer feared the unknown and instead viewed each new challenge as a chance to learn. The boy who once feared change now saw it as an adventure, and he laughed at the thought that tomorrow might bring an even bigger surprise.
