A short story about a brave boy discovering patience and kindness.

Tom was a young boy who often shouted when he felt frustrated. He would slam doors and throw toys when he was upset. His mom tried to teach him to breathe, but he often forgot to listen. One day, after a big quarrel at school, Tom felt his heart pounding. That night, he wondered if he could change his feelings before they grew.

The next morning, Tom decided to try a new trick. He counted to five slowly, inhaling and exhaling. A gentle wind seemed to calm his cheeks and his shoulders. He realized that the breath could turn a wild storm into a soft sigh. Tom felt proud of his tiny victory.

At recess, Tom’s friend Lily got a new toy that she wanted to show everyone. Tom wanted to shout about how fast he could run, but he held it inside. Instead, he smiled and helped Lily share her toy. Everyone laughed happily. Tom felt a warm glow in his tummy.

When a bully tripped another child, many kids shouted. Tom felt angry and wanted to join. He thought about his breathing trick and counted to five. He stepped forward quietly, not yelling, and helped the child up. The bully looked surprised, and the kids applauded Tom’s calmness.

Back at home, Tom's mom praised him for his patience. She asked him how he had changed his feelings inside. He explained about the breathing and counting, and how peaceful it felt. She smiled and said she was proud, reminding him that learning to calm oneself is a big strength.

From that day forward, Tom practised his breathing whenever the anger rose. He learned new games that made him think before speaking. His classmates noticed the difference, and they asked him for help. Tom kept his promise to stay calm and shared his new skills. The boy who once shouted, now taught others how to be gentle.
