Milo lived in a cozy burrow beneath the roots of an old oak tree.
He would watch the birds glide and the butterflies dance in the garden.
Each day he imagined his small paws lifting him high into the sky.
His friends laughed, saying mice were meant to be tiny and ground‑bound.
But Milo felt a spark in his heart, a longing he could not ignore.

One bright morning, Milo built a tiny rocket from twigs, leaves, and a discarded straw hat.
He strapped a ribbon to the back of his little hideout, thinking it would add lift.
His friends gathered to see what would happen, their whiskers twitching with curiosity.
Milo whispered, “I will reach the clouds!”
They all cheered and held a giant leaf like a banner.

Milo pressed the shiny button he had carved from a shiny coin.
The rocket sputtered and tickled the air.
Suddenly, a gentle breeze lifted Milo upward, as tiny feet carried him a few inches.
He felt the wind against his ears and the sun warm his cheeks.
He gasped, “I am flying!”

As the rocket climbed higher, Milo passed the garden’s tomato vines.
He looked down and saw rivers of sunshine, like golden pathways.
The birds chirped a welcome song from above.
A friendly cat, who had watched the whole adventure, pounced in delight.
Milo thanked his friends for believing in him.

By noon, Milo had reached the lowest cloud, soft and fluffy as cotton candy.
He sat on a misty hill, feeling the mist tickle his whiskers.
He realized that even though he could not stay forever, his heart was free.
The mice who had laughed before smiled and thanked Milo for showing them hope.
The sky itself seemed to applaud his brave heart.

When the sun began to set, Milo lowered the rocket and gently returned to the earth.
His friends welcomed him with open paws and bright smiles.
Milo told them all he had seen and felt in the sky.
They promised to listen to each dream from that day onwards.
From that day forward, the old oak tree buzzed with new stories of soaring and sharing.
