Pip the Pocket Dragon

Pip the Pocket Dragon

A heartwarming tale about friendship, courage, and a dragon that just fits in the palm of your hand.

age 7-10

1. The Tiny Dragon

Lila found a shimmering egg in her grandma’s attic. The egg was no bigger than a marble and hummed a gentle tune. When it cracked open, a tiny dragon named Pip peeked out. Pip had emerald scales that glittered in the sunlight. Lila was thrilled and promised Pip she would take good care of him.

2. A Pocket-Sized Adventure

Pip could fit under Lila’s arm, and soon he was her constant companion. Together they explored the garden, searching for hidden treasures. Pip helped Lila spot flowers that were too high to reach. With his miniature fire breath, Pip cleared a smudge of soot from her window. Lila felt a surge of confidence because Pip was always by her side.

3. Learning to Fly

One windy afternoon, Pip’s tiny wings fluttered fiercely. He tried to lift off, but his legs slipped on the bark. Lila taught Pip how to push off the ground by using his tail. After several attempts, Pip hovered above the grass. This moment made Lila proud and Pip feel the first taste of freedom.

4. The Big Storm

Suddenly, clouds grew dark and the wind howled in the sky. Lila’s house began to shake, and the old oak tree swayed dangerously. Pip zipped between the branches, his eyes bright and fearless. He warned Lila of the incoming danger. Together, they found shelter beneath a large stone arch.

5. Friendship in the Fire

A spark flared from a broken candle and spread quickly across the floorboards. Pip tried to blow it away with his fire breath, but he couldn’t breathe hot enough. Lila gathered a bucket of water, and Pip held the bucket with his claws. The flames subsided, and the fire died out. Lila hugged Pip, grateful for his bravery and friendship.

6. A Promise Made

When the storm passed, the sky glittered with colors like a painting. Lila and Pip celebrated with a picnic beneath the stars. Pip curled around Lila’s hand, and she sang a song about dragons and dreams. On the last day of summer, Lila promised Pip a year’s worth of adventures. As the moon climbed, Pip slept contently, ready for tomorrow.
