A short story for children about friendship and learning.

On a bright Saturday morning, Lily was exploring the town’s old workshop. She spotted a dusty, yellow robot on a shelf and wondered if it needed a friend. She brushed the metal arms and discovered REX, a robot that blinked its eyes with curiosity. Lily smiled and whispered, 'Hello, REX! Would you like to play?'. The robot’s lights flickered in excitement, signaling its eagerness to start an adventure.

First, Lily showed REX how to play hide‑and‑seek in the workshop. She counted to ten, and REX tried to find the hidden key. Using its built‑in sensors, REX discovered the key under a pile of bolts. Lily clapped loudly, praising its cleverness. REX beamed its lights, feeling proud of its new skill.

Next, Lily introduced REX to a set of colorful blocks. She stacked them high, then tapped them so they would tumble. REX watched attentively, learning how gravity made the blocks fall. The robot then arranged them into a tall tower, surprising Lily with its precision. They laughed together when a block slipped and the tower toppled.

Lily then suggested a race with toy cars. She set up a track on the floor. REX programmed a small wheel, and together they powered the robot to the finish line. Lily cheered every time REX crossed the line, and she helped the robot repair a small glitch. REX felt the thrill of speed and friendship.

At dusk, Lily invited other children to the workshop. They all watched as REX played with them, teaching new games. The children cheered and learned together, realizing that learning can be fun. Lily felt happy to share her discoveries. REX beeped happily, grateful for new friends.

After the day, Lily and REX sat by the window, looking at stars. They talked about future games and adventures. REX promised to protect Lily from any sparks. Lily promised to take care of the robot and share its stories. Together, they dreamed of many more playgrounds filled with imagination.
