The Kid Who Discovered a New Planet

The Kid Who Discovered a New Planet

A curious young boy named Milo loved to look up at the stars and imagine worlds beyond our sky. Every night he would sit on his porch with a sketchbook, drawing the bright constellations he could see. One rainy afternoon, after a storm knocked a loose sheet from the attic, Milo found a hidden old telescope that had been left behind by his grandfather. He set it up as fast as his small hands could manage and peered through the glass, hoping to spot something new.

Age 6-8

The Spark of Curiosity

Milo pressed the focus ring of the telescope until the stars blurred into sparkling letters. He felt a thrill run through his fingers as the image sharpened into a small glowing dot. This dot was not on any map of the sky that Milo knew. He whispered, "Perhaps it is a new planet!"

The Mysterious Glow

With a steady breath, Milo lowered the telescope and saw the dot move, circling in a perfect loop. It spun faster than the moon and seemed to blink in and out of view. Milo’s heart raced; he could not explain the strange movement.

Gathering the Team

Milo told his best friend Lily and his parents. They were all excited and decided to build a small spaceship together from cardboard and old cans. They called it the “Star Chaser.” The whole family gathered around the telescope, pointing and wondering.

The Launch

Finally, the day came for the Star Chaser to fly. Milo, Lily, and their cousins climbed into the cardboard ship. They pretended to lift off, blasting past the backyard fence, and aimed directly at that glowing dot.

The New World

When Lily’s eyes widened, the ship “touchdown” on a bright, blue-green planet that looked almost like Earth but covered in swirling clouds. They could see green forests and golden rivers. Milo thought, "We have found a brand-new world!"

A Promise

The family agreed to keep the discovery a secret from the world, just for now, but they promised Milo to keep looking up at the night sky and never stop wondering. They sealed the planet’s name in their secret journal and decided that one day, all children would one day discover their own new planets.
