Lily was skipping along the riverbank when a sudden strong breeze lifted her kite high above the trees. The wind tugged her small basket and carried her toward the sky. She gasped as she saw a village made of shining wooden houses, floating above fluffy clouds. None of the children in her town had ever heard of such a place. Determined to find out more, Lily waved at the villagers and asked if she could stay for a moment.

The villagers welcomed her warmly. They wore bright scarves that glowed in the sunlight. Their market was filled with fruits that changed colors, and laughter filled the air. Lily pressed her hand against a floating lantern that pulsed gently. She heard a tiny voice call her name, and she felt her heart beat faster.

Later that day, Lily discovered the village’s secret. The village floated because of the “Whispering Stones” beneath the clouds, which sang whenever someone believed in kindness. The stones were ancient, worn smooth by time, and they hummed a beautiful melody. Without them, the houses would sink. Lily promised to help protect the stones from any harm.

A sudden storm rolled in, sending shadows over the village. The villagers grew worried, and the stones trembled. Lily remembered an old legend: “A brave heart can calm the wind.” She stepped forward, sang a sweet tune she learned from a songbook, and the wind began to swirl peacefully. The clouds cleared, and the village returned to its normal gentle floating.

The villagers thanked Lily with sparkling ribbons and a gift of wind‑chimes that ticked softly. They told her that she had become a guardian of their secret, and she had the right to return whenever she wished. Lily promised to keep the village’s safety and to share the magic with children who believed in wonder. She left, heart full of joy, and a promise to visit again soon.

Back home, Lily spread her story to her classmates during show‑and‑tell. They listened with wide eyes and asked many questions. Lily answered with enthusiasm, and the teacher nodded in approval. She decided to create a scrapbook of her adventure. From then on, Lily and her friends looked to the clouds, hoping for another surprise from the sky.
