A little book that loves to tell terrible jokes, setting off a merry chase across the playroom and the backyard.

When Lily opened the book, a faint giggle echoed from its pages. The book, bound in bright blue, had a big smiley face on the cover. It whispered, "I will tell you a joke that might make you snort!" Lily’s eyes widened, and she laughed aloud. Suddenly, the floorboards creaked, as if a tiny drum were playing.

"Why did the cookie go to school?" the book asked. Lily stared, then giggled. "Because it wanted to be a smart cookie!" the book boomed. The room turned into a carnival of squeals and giggles. Even the cat, curious, purred in amused rhythm.

The pages fluttered faster, flipping itself open to the next joke. Lily chased the book down the hall, holding its cover like a small comet. "I have a riddle about a silly teacher," the book rattled. She followed the words into the garden, where sunshine beckoned. A frog hopped nearby, as if joining the club.

The book sang, "What gets wetter the dirtier it becomes?" Lily whispered, "A joke that splashes," before laughing. The question made her think, and her mind sprouted bright ideas. When the answer was given, "A raindrop," the book burst into clapping. The playground echoed with the claps, like a drum, echoing through trees.

When the sun dipped, Lily tucked the book into her quilt. The book hummed its own tune, a lullaby of jokes. It told a final whisper, "Tomorrow, we’ll count our jokes up to a hundred." Lily dreamed of a rainbow made of chuckles. The night sky twinkled with giggles.

At dawn, the book rolled itself onto the windowsill. "Happy Monday, Lily!" it chirped. Lily opened it again, finding a brand-new page, a blank slate. The book said, "When a bad joke meets a good friend, a perfect laugh is born." Lily grinned, ready for another adventurous day of jumbled giggles.
