Deep Sea Fears the Sky

Deep Sea Fears the Sky

In the deepest part of the ocean, there lived a group of colorful fish who had never seen the surface. They told stories about it — how it was bright, dangerous, and full of unknown creatures. The older fish said the surface could burn your fins and blind your eyes. So, everyone agreed: stay deep, stay safe.

The Dark Home

The fish loved their dim, quiet world. They glowed in the dark and made bubbles that twinkled like stars. Every day, they sang songs about how smart they were for staying far away from danger. Only one small fish, Luna, felt curious. She often looked up, wondering what really lay beyond the blue ceiling.

Luna’s Curiosity

Luna was tiny but brave. She asked the old anglerfish, “What if the stories are wrong?” The anglerfish frowned, its light flickering. “Child,” it said, “nothing good comes from up there.” But Luna couldn’t stop thinking about the light that sometimes shimmered down like silver rain.

The Journey Upward

One day, Luna decided to find out for herself. She swam upward, higher than any of her friends dared. Her heart pounded as the water grew warmer and brighter. She saw shapes she didn’t recognize — coral, shells, and even a giant turtle who smiled kindly at her.

The Bright Surprise

Finally, Luna broke through the surface. The sunlight dazzled her eyes, but instead of pain, she felt warmth and wonder. She saw blue sky, white clouds, and her reflection sparkling like a diamond. It wasn’t scary — it was beautiful! Luna laughed, making tiny ripples that danced across the water.

Bringing Light Home

When Luna returned, the other fish gasped. “You’re glowing brighter!” they said. Luna smiled. “I’ve seen the sky. It’s not what we feared — it’s full of light and hope.” Slowly, the others began to swim upward too. From that day, the deep-sea fish were no longer afraid of the surface.
